A crash occured on Interstate 65 near exit 69 that involved mutliple vehicles, including multiple commercial vehicles. One person was killed. Traffic in the area was detoured during the invstigation and reopened once the scene was cleared.
A pedestrian was killed after he was struck by several vehicles near the 273 mile marker of Interstate 65. He was later identified as 36-year-old Justin Shwayne Bice of Sumiton.
A tractor-trailer rear-ended another vehicle on Interstate 65, causing a chain reaction crash that involved six other vehicles. One person and at least five other people were injured in the incident. The identity of the deceased will be released after next of kin are notified.
Around 9 p.m. Ann Marie Brown, 45, from Castleberry, died when the 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle she was a passenger on crashed with a 2013 Volvo tractor trailer on Interstate 65,17 miles southwest of Evergreen. Ann Brown was pronounced deceased at the crash site.
A police officer was pursuing another vehicle that was going about 110 mph on I-65 when the officer crashed into another car on the interstate. The front end of the police cruise was damaged in the accident, and the officer was hospitalized.
Interstate 65 was closed for over 15 hours after two fatal crashes slowed traffic. The identities of those killed have not been released, but we do know that one person was killed in a crash involving one semi.
A mother and her young son died on Interstate 65 in Franklin after stopping to help people in a vehicle that had crashed. Kristi Clark, 34, and Carter Oakley, 10, stopped to help when an SUV slid on ice and rolled over after 9 p.m. Monday.
