I-65 reopens after fatal crashes cause over 15-hour closure
Authorities report northbound Interstate 65 reopened between Tippecanoe and White counties after multiple fatal crashes brought the interstate to a halt in both directions. I-65 was closed down for more than 15 hours, beginning Tuesday night.
UPDATE: I-65 reopens after multiple crashes leave 2 people dead
Two people died after fog-related crashes on Interstate 65 north of Lafayette. I-65 northbound reopened early Wednesday afternoon.
Two killed in separate crashes on I-65 in White County
State Police say that a total of 15 semis, five cars and two vans were involved in at least three separate crashes. The northbound lanes of I-65 from the 178 exit to the 193 exit are still closed. Southbound I-65 from the 201 exit to the 188 exit is closed due to several property damage crashes across both lanes of traffic.
Interstate 65 was closed for over 15 hours after two fatal crashes slowed traffic. The identities of those killed have not been released, but we do know that one person was killed in a crash involving one semi. In a seperate crash, another person was killed in a pileup that included six semis, a van, and two cars. Investigators say the second crash was caused by drivers slowing to see the first crash, and that fog was a contributing factor.
