A 2-year-old boy has died after a car was struck by a New Jersey Transit train in Burlington County, New Jersey.

3-year-old South Jersey boy killed when train, car collide
Witnesses told police that the gates were down at the crossing, but the driver allegedly tried to cross the tracks and was struck by a River Line train.
The accident occured shortly before 4 p.m. Friday on the tracks of the New Jersey Transit River Line near River Road and Chester Avenue in Delran. A vehicle a 56-year-old male driver was trying to cross the tracks despite the signals when it became stuck and the train collided into it. The driver and his 3-year-old grandson were sent to Cooper Hospital where the child succumbed to his injuries. There was information released on the condition of the child’s grandfather. Five people who were riding the train were also sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Check for updates on this developing story.
