Thu, 04/13/2023A car pulled onto a railroad crossing on private land at around 2:30 a.m., where it was struck by an Amtrak train. The driver died at the scene. Crews had to be called in to remove the remains of the vehicle from the track. The driver has not yet been identified.
A 61-year-old man drove his car through the crossing gate while the train was going by, broadsiding the train, and was thrown to the other side of the road. He suffered minor injuries and the operator of the train suffered cardiac symptoms. The crash caused an oil leak in one of the train cars.
