Jake H. Hemrick, 26, and Michelle M. Crowe, 24, killed and 3 people injured in collision with semi truck on Interstate 57 near Manteno, Illinois

At 1:13 p.m., a southbound 2016 Freightliner semi truck and a 2017 Toyota car traveling behind it were slowing to a stop in a construction zone on I-57 near mile marker 321, according to Illinois State Police. A 2010 International semi failed to slow down and smashed into the back of the car, causing it to collide with the other semi.
