Underage driver arrested following fatal crash

Police are investigating a fatal crash involving an underage driver on Milwaukee's south side. A 14-year-old female passenger was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver and a female and male passenger, both 15, were treated at the hospital. The driver was arrested for operating without a license causing death. Authorities said a 14-year-old girl was driving a GMC Envoy at a high rate of speed Sunday about 8:30 p.m., lost control and collided with a tree.

Police identify 14-year-old killed in Sunday crash

A 14-year-old girl was killed in a high speed crash Sunday night in Milwaukee. A 14-year-old passenger in the back seat was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Two 15-year-old passengers were injured in the crash and taken to area hospitals. Police said a 14-year-old was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy on South 35th Street at a high rate of speed when she lost control of the SUV and struck a tree. MPD said the vehicle belonged to one of the family of one of the passengers and was not considered stolen.
