Two killed in car versus semi accident near Lancaster

In a news release, police said the semi was traveling east on Highway A and failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 129. The semi hit a vehicle that was driving north on Highway 129, killing both people in the vehicle.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department said the names of the man and woman killed will not be released until their families have been notified.

The semi driven by Caraus was eastbound on Grant County A when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Wisconsin 129. The semi hit the northbound SUV driven by John Hansen. He and his wife were the only people in the vehicle.

Man faces charges in traffic deaths of two from Moline

Eugeniu Caraus,  27, has been charged with two counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle.

Additional safety measures implemented at site of fatal crash in Lancaster

Rumble strips have been installed on Grant County A on both sides of its intersection with Wisconsin 129 on the east side of Lancaster. "Stop ahead" signs on Grant County A also have been relocated closer to the intersection.
