Two Teens killed & Three injured in South Park Neighborhood in Seattle on November 11

A 16-year-old boy who died in a car crash in South Park on Sunday night has been identified as Mario Luis Martinez Herrera. Denny International Middle School, where Herrera once attended, released a letter to students’ families identifying the teen driver. Also killed in the crash was Luciana “Lucie” Hernandez, an eighth-grader at the school, according to school officials.

The car was traveling northbound on 8th Avenue South when the driver lost control and crashed into a utility pole in the 9200 block. The driver, identified as 16-year-old Luis Martinez, was killed instantly. Four additional occupants, all juveniles, were treated on scene by Seattle Fire Department and transported to Harborview Medical Center.

Seattle police say two teenagers were killed and three others were critically injured when their car crashed into a telephone pole in south Seattle Sunday night. Detective Renee Witt on Monday said the 16-year-old male driver was killed instantly. A female passenger died of her injuries after being taken to Harborview Medical Center. The three other juveniles were listed in critical or serious condition.
