Petersburg woman killed in motorcycle crash on I-95

A Petersburg man faces reckless driving charges in a crash on Interstate 95 which killed a woman on a motorcycle. Police charged him with reckless driving. The accident remains under investigation and police say weather was a factor in the crash. Katoria D. Spellman was driving the motorcycle and wearing a helmet. Jenkins was not wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured.

Driver charged after Petersburg woman dies in I-95 motorcycle wreck

Virginia State Police said the driver of motorcycle involved in a crash with a car along I-95 south in Colonial Heights Thursday night has died. The driver of the sedan, 22-year-old Bennie M. Jenkins III of Petersburg, was charged with reckless driving. Steve Vick with Virginia State Police said. Officials said the victim, 25-year-old Katoria D. Spellman of Petersburg, was transported to VCU Medical Center where she died. 

Mom speaks at emotional vigil for Petersburg woman killed in motorcycle crash

PETERSBURG, Va. '€” A Monday night vigil honored a 25-year-old Petersburg woman killed in motorcycle crash. Katoria, 25, died on her motorcycle when another driver hit her on I-95 South in Colonial Heights last Thursday night. She said the large crowd of people who gathered at Poplar Lawn Park in Petersburg was like a group hug. Funeral services for Katoria Spellman will be Thursday at noon at Good Shepherd Church, on South Crater Road. She said the people who showed up in numbers Monday night gave her the strength and courage to continue on.
