Major overnight crash closes I-85 north in Dinwiddie; 3 people injured

Police tell 8News that three people suffered minor injuries after a tractor trailer ran into the back of a firetruck and police cruiser.  Authorities say they were working the scene of another crash when it happened.

One lane remains closed on I-85 North in Dinwiddie following a crash between a tractor trailer and a fire truck that sent three people to the hospital. Alternate route: Take McKenney Highway (Rt. 40) west to Boydton Plank Rd. (Rt. 1) north back I-85 north at mile marker 48 or mile marker 53. Sunday, the fire truck was on the scene of a separate accident when it was struck by a tractor trailer that was not slowing down. The tractor trailer ended up hitting a guardrail and overturning. The tractor trailer driver was flown to VCU Medical Center.
