Elderly woman dies from injuries after vehicle accident in Nottoway

53-year-old James A. McGinnis from Crewe, Virginia was not wearing a seatbelt and was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 79-year-old Betty H. Hamilton from Burkeville, Virginia was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center and later transported to MCV where she died.  

79-year-old injured in Nottoway crash has died

Virginia State Police confirm an elderly woman injured in a two-vehicle crash in Nottoway County has died. 79-year-old Betty H. Hamilton, of Burkeville, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday. Hamilton was wearing her seat belt, according to State Police. The crash happened Friday morning, just before noon on Lewiston Plank Road near Shutt Road. Troopers said the driver of the Dodge, 53-year-old James A. McGinnis, was not wearing a seat belt, and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
