Two adults are injured and a 4-year-old child is dead after a crash on Bacchus Highway Friday morning.

The child died and the mother was taken by medical helicopter to a local hospital in "extremely critical condition," Winkler said. Unified Police confirmed Friday afternoon that Rashelle Meguerditchian later died.

At around 6 a.m. at 10800 S. Bacchus Highway in South Jordan, a red passenger car headed north crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into a southbound black pickup. The pickup attempted to avoid the car but was unsuccessful, and the the 33-year-old male driver of the truck was brought to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the red car was airlifted in extremely critical condition, and her 4-year-old son died as a result of the injuries despite being in a booster seat in the back seat of the vehicle. All parties were wearing seat belts. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
