Deadly crash shuts down part of Hwy 79 in Panola County

A portion of Highway 79 is back open after a crash killed a woman and injured 7 others late Tuesday night in Panola County. Blake Holland with KGAS radio reports the crash happened around 5:00 Tuesday evening on Highway 79 north near the Texas-Louisiana state line. Traffic in both north and southbound lanes was blocked until about 7:30 p.m. when the crash scene was cleared. One woman was taken to a Shreveport hospital where she later died from her injuries.
