Train crashes into big rig in northwest Houston

A train smashed into the back of an 18-wheeler that was on the tracks in northwest Houston Saturday afternoon.According to Houston police, the Union Pacific train, which was carrying bundles of discarded cardboard boxes, was heading northbound on 43rd Street near Hempstead Highway.The crossing arm came down, but the trailer of the big rig was reportedly still on the tracks.The train hit the back of the trailer, causing the truck's contents to go everywhere. Debris from the trailer hit another vehicle, causing damage to it.No injuries were reported.

HOUSTON - An 18-wheeler truck and a train were involved in a crash Saturday afternoon in northwest Houston, according to officials. The 18-wheeler was apparently trying to cross railroad tracks ahead of the train when the train hit the back end of the truck. The crash happened on Hempstead road near W 43rd street. No injuries were reported in the accident. The crash did however cause a mess as the contents of the big rig were scattered across the roadway.
