The report states that the plane, which completed an annual inspection on Sept. 3, 2012, was destroyed during the impact and subsequent ground fire. The plane had also been involved in a ground accident in November 2013, according to preliminary information.
A plane carrying a family of four had just taken off from Kestrel Air Park in Spring Branch at about 12:30 p.m. when it crashed into a grassy area not far from where it took off. All occupants were killed in the crash, and have now been identified as pilot Michael Scott Galloway, 38, Heather Louise Galloway, 32, Clayton T. Galloway, 10, and Cheyenne Elizabeth Galloway, 8.
