Lara Gayle Taylor, 45, Cody Owens, 52, and Kenneth Smith, 59, killed in train crash reported in Panhandle, Texas

The crash occurred around 8.40 am Tuesday morning in the town of Panhandle, Texas, just outside of Amarillo, sending a fireball and plumes of black smoke into the horizon. About two-dozen boxcars derailed in the crash.

Carson County law enforcement and rescue officials have not reported any injuries, but hospitals in Amarillo - about 30 minutes away - are operating on high alert as a precaution. 

The newspaper also reported that Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway officials confirmed two trains had derailed. The incident happened at about 8:30 a.m., according to the Globe-News.

 Four BNSF employees were involved in the incident. 

Local first responders and BNSF personnel were deployed to the scene. By 9:02 a.m., one employee was transported to a local hospital and is being treated. Rescue efforts are underway at the scene with respect to the three other railroad employees involved in the incident.

One patient from the crash was taken to Northwest Texas Healthcare System in nearby Amarillo, Texas. He is in stable, non-critical condition, according to the hospital's marketing director, Patrick Buckley. 

Federal Railroad Administration spokesman Matthew Lehner didn't specify how many people were injured in the crash between two BNSF trains near Amarillo.

Officials said the city was draining its water supply to fill fire trucks' tanks as it desperately tried to quell the flames.

Three railroad employees are presumed dead after they went missing when two freight trains collided in a fiery crash near Panhandle, Texas, on Tuesday, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety official.

The remains of two of the three railroad employees who went missing during a fiery crash between freight trains have been recovered, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway said today.

Taylor was born in North Kansas City, Mo., to Jerry Lee and Patricia Morris. She graduated from Park Hill High School there.

A trust fund has been established for her son, Jacob Taylor of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Harmony Vineyard Church, 600 N.E. 46th Street Kansas City, MO 64116.

A Memorial Service celebrating Lara’s life will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. John Brown officiating.

Authorities hope dogs searching the wreckage of two trains that collided last week in a fiery head-on crash in Texas will find the remains of a conductor whose body has yet to be located.

A search for the remains of Lara Gayle Taylor, 45, of Amarillo, the third missing BNSF Railway crew member lost in the fiery June 28 head-on freight train crash near Panhandle, has come to a close, BNSF spokesman Joe Foust said Saturday.
