Two people dead in Florence after drunk driver hits moped, flees the scene

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal accident in Florence early Sunday morning that killed two moped riders on Oliver Road and Land Grant Drive. SCHP said, a 2006 Chevy trailblazer was traveling South on Oliver Road when the vehicle struck a moped that was also traveling South on Oliver Road that had two riders. The driver of the trailblazer, Henry McKenzie, was charged with two counts of felony DUI resulting in death and leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death. McKenzie is being held at the Florence Detention Center, according to SCHP. Details are limited at this time. Coroner Keith VonLutcken said victim identities will be released Sunday.

Troopers say the moped had two people on it who died at the scene. Coroner Keith von Lutcken identifies the victims as 47-year-old Jerome Green and 32-yearold Tameika McLean both of Effingham.
