It is the 40th traffic-related fatality of the year in Anderson County, the Coroner's Office said.
Troopers: Driver charged after Williamston man hit, killed
Troopers identified the driver as 30-year-old Jon Daughenbaugh. They said he was charged with driving under the influence in the crash.
Coroner identifies pedestrian struck, killed after leaving mother's home
Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said Jackie Lee Blanding, 49, of Williamston, was hit just before 2 a.m. at Anderson and Walton Drives.
Jackie Lee Blanding was walking home on Anderson Drive when he was struck by Jon Daughenbaugh who was driving a pickup truck. He was declared dead at the scene. Daughenbaugh did not realize he had hit someone until he got home and saw the damage on his vehicle and heard sirens. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time.
