Troopers said the wreck happened shortly before 8 a.m. on East River Street near the U.S. Highway 29 bypass. Authorities at the scene said the vehicle went off the road, through a bamboo forest, down an embankment and came to rest near the bank of the Rocky River Creek.
Anderson man killed in single-car wreck
The driver of the 2000 Nissan pickup truck was traveling South on US 29 when he ran off the left side of the roadway and down an embankment, he said.
One Dead After Single Car Accident On US 29
The driver was not seat belted and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore says the Ralph Lanier had lost control went down the embankment 30 feet according to witnesses. His truck went though some bamboo and rested at the end of the Rocky River.
An-80-year-old man died after his 2000 Nissan pickup left the road and went through a bamboo forest and down an embankment.
