Walnutport man driving minivan that's struck by motorcycle in intersection; rider dies, police say
Franklin Schlegel pulled into the intersection at Route 145 and the minivan was struck on the driver's side by the front of the motorcycle. The rider of the motorcycle, who police did not name pending notification of family, died after the crash, police said.

Jorge Lugo Jr., of the 100 block of Larch Avenue, was pronounced dead at 7:36 p.m. at the crash site at Route 145 and Second Street in North Whitehall Township, the Lehigh County Coroner’s office said.
A 56-year-old Walnutport man was driving the minivan Wednesday night with which a motorcycle driven by Jorge Lugo Jr., of Teaneck, NJ, collided on Route 145 in North Whitehall Township, killing the rider. Franklin Schlegel was driving west just before 7 p.m. on Second Street; Bernice Schlegel, 73, also of Walnutport, was a passenger in the minivan, police said. Franklin Schlegel and Bernice Schlegel were transported to a hospital for evaluation. The death has been ruled an accident.
