Charges filed in deadly crash five months later Authorities say John Bitner, 56, was unable to stop near a crash scene, and caused another crash that killed West End paramedic, Janice Keen Livingston. Bitner will have 10 days to submit a plea, at which time further court proceedings will take place.

Coal trucker faces 4 tickets in crash that killed paramedic

Police have filed four traffic citations against a coal truck driver who killed a paramedic who was responding to other western Pennsylvania crashes. Bitner's tri-axle coal truck was unable to stop on an icy road and crashed into 38-year-old Janice Livingston, pinning her against a tree on March 2. That happened while Livingston was already responding to two earlier crashes involving three vehicles on Route 271 in Upper Yoder Township.

Driver pleads guilty to charges connected to crash that killed West End paramedic WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. -- A Westmoreland county man entered guilty pleas in court Friday to four summary citations in connection to a multi vehicle accident that killed West End Ambulance Service paramedic Janice Keen Livingston in March. John Bitner plead guilty to careless driving and driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed. Livingston was working at the scene of an accident when Bitner struck her with a tri-axle truck. Bitner had to pay fines totaling more than $660 dollar and will have points added onto his license.

Coroner: Truck kills Johnstown paramedic helping others on icy road

The coroner said Ms. Livingston was at the scene after two earlier crashes when the coal truck came around a curve on an icy road and “kind of barreled” through the accident scene.
A paramedic responding to two collisions died after a coal truck hit her and pinned her against a tree. Janice Livingston, 38, of Johnstown, died Monday morning on Route 271 in Upper Yoder Township. Ms. Livingston was at the scene after two earlier car collisions when the coal truck came around a curve on an icy road and struck Livingston at the initial crash scene. She died of multiple traumatic injuries. Livingston was employed by West End Ambulance Services in Johnstown.
