2 dead in ‘horrific’ Clark County plane crash

Officials have confirmed two people died in a ‘horrific’ single-engine plane crash in Clark County today.

It happened around 11 a.m. near the intersection of Newlove Road and state Route 41 in Harmony Township, near South Charleston. Officials say the flight was experimental and that the plane is registered out of Detroit, the Harmony Township Fire Department said.

Former Allen Park mayor, along with his wife, killed in Ohio plane crash

Longtime Downriver political figure Levon King died, along with his wife, Gloria, in a plane crash Friday morning in Ohio.

Levon King served as mayor of Allen Park and as the city administrator in Southgate. He retired from public life in 2009. The couple lived in Dearborn. Levon was 81; Gloria was 85.

Investigators gathering information on fatal Clark County plane crash

It’s still unclear what role, if any, weather may have played in the crash. A thunderstorm and lightning hit the area east of Springfield near where the crash occurred around 10:50 a.m.

Memorial service set for former Allen Park mayor, wife killed in plane crash

Visitation for the couple is set for 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park, Allen Park. A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Friday at Allen Park Presbyterian Church, 7101 Park. Their bodies will be cremated, with their ashes interred at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the church.
