Medical Examiner identifies bicyclist killed in Brecksville crash

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has released the name of a Canton man killed when a truck crashed into his bicycle Thursday night. Matthew Billings, 33, was declared dead at the scene of the crash that took place about 7 p.m. near the intersection of Snowville and Dewey roads. Friday that no further information was available on the crash. Four other cyclists were injured in the crash and taken to area hospitals.

Biker killed in Brecksville crash identified

The medical examiner's office said Billings died at the scene of the crash. Two were flown by helicopter to the hospital and the other cyclists were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the truck stayed behind and waited for police. So far, no charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.

Billings' daughter Evelyn will now have her first birthday Nov. 18 without her father. "He was just an amazing person," his father Frank Billings said in a tearful interview Friday. "He just loved being a dad." Matthew's daugther was "The pride of his life," he said. The 33-year-old North Canton man was pronounced dead at the scene on Dewey Road near Snowville Road near the western edge of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Second bicyclist dies from Brecksville fatal crash

The Medical Examiner reported James Lambert, 52, of Cuyahoga Falls, was taken to Marymount Hospital from Snowville Road after being one of five bicyclists that were hit by a truck on Sept. 17. He was then transferred via Life Flight to MetroHealth Medical Center. He was pronounced dead Thursday. 

Second bicyclist dies after being injured in Brecksville crash

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio '€“ A second bicyclist has died more than a week after he was injured in a crash that happened in Brecksville. Lambert is the second person to die in the crash that happened Sept. 17 on Dewey Road near Snowville Road. Three other cyclists who were injured in the crash have been released from local hospitals, spokesmen at MetroHealth Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic said. A Ford F-350 struck and killed Matthew Billings and seriously injured four others, including Lambert, while attempting to make a left turn. James Lambert, 52, of Cuyahoga Falls, died after spending a week in the intensive care unit at MetroHealth Medical Center, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office said.

2nd Bicyclist Killed By Crash Was Once An Olympic Alternate

One of the bicyclists killed in a collision with a pickup truck in Ohio was once an alternate on the U.S. Olympic cycling team. Lambert is the second man to have died following the collision Sept. 17 in the Cleveland suburb of Brecksville. Lambert's brother Michael tells Northeast Ohio Media Group ( ) that his brother was an alternate on the U.S. cycling team that competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Fifty-two-year-old Jim Lambert of Cuyahoga Falls died at a hospital Thursday night. Police have said the truck collided with five cyclists but haven't released further details.

Brecksville man charged in crash that killed cyclists pleads not guilty

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio -- A Brecksville man pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a crash that killed two bicyclists and injured three others. The other three injured bicyclists have been released from area hospitals. The charges stem from a Sept. 17 crash that happened on Snowville Road near Dewey Road. Wolf was booked on Sunday and released after posting a $525 bond, according to court records. He is scheduled to appear at a pretrial hearing Nov. 16, according to court records.

Trial begins for Brecksville man charged in crash that killed cyclists

Timothy J. Wolf, 42, is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of willful or wanton disregard of public safety in the Sept. 17 crash on Snowville Road near Dewey Road in Brecksville. His trial began Monday in Garfield Heights Municipal Court.
