A man is dead after he was struck Thursday morning by a cement truck while in the southbound lanes of I-71 at the Red Bank Road exit.

“He loved his church. He loved the Freestore Foodbank and he loved the Boy Scouts,” Boy Scouts of America Dan Beard Council CEO Tom Dugger said.

A private service for Edwards, 80, will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church.
A man apparently parked his car on the should and walked into traffic on I-71 near the mile 10 mile marker and Red Bank Road where he was struck and killed by a cement truck. The road was closed for over two hours while police investigated. No one else was injured in the accident, and officials do not believe speed or alcohol were contributing factors. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
