Man killed in accident involving dump truck

A man was killed when his vehicle collided with a dump truck in Leland Monday morning. According to troopers with the State Highway Patrol, the wreck was first called in at around 9:30 a.m. on US 74/76 at Malmo Loop Road. Crews closed the eastbound lanes of US 74/76 while they worked to clear the scene.

LELAND -- A Riegelwood man was killed Monday morning in a traffic accident on U.S. 74-76 in Leland. Troy Pope. Phillip Brent Bordeaux, 31, died in the 10:03 a.m. wreck near Malmo Loop Road, according to N.C. State Highway Patrol First Sgt. Pope said Bordeaux was driving a Ford SUV when he ran into the back of a slower-moving dump truck. The incident closed the eastbound lanes of U.S. 74-76 for at least two hours.
