Truck driver killed in NC crash on I-26

The N.C. Highway Patrol says a truck driver was killed in an accident on Interstate 26 that closed eastbound lanes for three hours. Troopers say Hurst was wearing his seatbelt but died on the scene. All eastbound lanes were closed for about three hours after the crash. Troopers say a crane was needed to remove the container, which was filled with small plastic pellets typically melted down to make plastic goods. Trooper H. M. Martin told local news media outlets that 52-year-old Tony Joseph Hurst of Chapin, South Carolina, was driving a tractor-trailer eastbound around 2:15 a.m.
