Police said 17-year-old Rachel Lucenius was killed after the car she was in went off the road and struck a tree.

Police said the driver was taking Lucenius and several other students home from school.

Classmates, community mourn high school student who died in car wreck

Family, friends, teachers and classmates are coping with Lucenius’s death. The school held a memorial service for Lucenius Saturday morning.

Loved ones to honor 17-year-old killed in Union Co. car wreck

Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Weddington United Methodist Church on Providence Road.

I live in the county. I actually go to Porter Ridge Middle, and I didn't find out about this until today. Many of my classmates are wearing green in Rachel's memory, as green is her schools(Weddington) color. Rachel was the friend of somebody I know, and the girl is devastated.
