4 killed in Fourth of July crash in Long Island: cops

Police say the driver of the pickup truck died along with three adults in the sedan.

Another adult is hospitalized in serious condition and a baby was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t life-threatening, police said.

Gustave Geyer, 25, was traveling southbound on Yaphank-Middle Island Road when he lost control of his pickup truck and struck a Nissan Altima heading northbound Monday night, according to police.

News 12 cites an unnamed source saying that Geyer's blood alcohol content was .16, which is double the limit of .08 at which a driver is considered legally impaired.

Suffolk police said Chandan Gavai, 38, the driver of a 2014 Nissan Altima, his father, Kamalnayan Gavai, 74, and mother, Archana Gavai, 60, died after the crash at about 10:46 p.m.

Survivor of deadly Yaphank crash transferred to Stony Brook

Manisha Surwade, 32, remains in critical condition, but she was well enough to be moved to Stony Brook hospital.
