Ulster County sheriff’s deputies investigating a one-car crash on DeWitt Mills Road encountered another vehicle speeding past the accident scene that ultimately led deputies on a high-speed chase, authorities aid Wednesday.
Driver fatigue has been blamed for the single-car crash that sent the driver, 49-year-old Robert Fezza Jr., to the hospital. Fezza was driving on DeWitt Mills Road at about 9:35 a.m. when he veered off of the roadway where he struck a rocky embankment and a tree. The injuries Fezza sustained in the crash were described as non-life threatening.
