Ms. Kaufman said she was in a car ahead of the Webers. They were to meet at Sammy's restaurant, she said, for a wedding rehearsal dinner. She did not witness the accident.
East Hampton Town police sergeant Daniel Roman was driving a motorcycle to the west on Old Montauk Highway just after 6:00 p.m. when he crashed head-on into a car driven by Stephen Lawton Weber Jr., who was attempting to turn left onto an access road to Second House Road. Weber's wife, Megan Weber, was his front-seat passenger at the time of the crash and reportedly performed CPR on Roman, who was in critical condition. He has since undergone successful surgery and is expected to recover.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
