Woman struck, killed by van while crossing Brooklyn street

A 60-year-old woman was fatally struck by a white van as she tried to cross a Brooklyn street Wednesday morning, officials said. The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was crossing 65th St. against the light near New Utrecht Ave. in Bensonhurst when the van slammed into her, witnesses told cops. She was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, but doctors were unable to save her, officials said. The driver of the van remained at the scene. No charges were expected to be filed.
