According to Sandoval County Lt. Keith Elder, three people were killed in a head-on collision near mile marker 22.5.

Three killed in head-on collision on U.S. 550
Sandoval County deputies say one vehicle was traveling northbound and the other southbound when one crossed the center lane causing the collision. Two men and a woman were killed in the crash.
Sandoval County sends emergency alert for deadly crash
Fire chief James Maxon said it took about 10 minutes to issue an emergency alert to people, notifying them NM 550 was closed near San Ysidro.
Investigators said a vehicle crossed the center line and slammed into another car head-on. Three people died at the scene, another person was taken to the hospital.

The two people killed in the blue car involved in the crash are 41-year-old Renae Pinto and 52-year-old Bruce Pinto, both of Cuba. 20-year-old Shawnee Pinto was also in the car at the time of the crash and was airlifted to UNMH.
