State police said the injuries to the adult bus passenger are considered serious. The crash happened in Fairfield Township, about 35 miles south of Philadelphia. State police say the SUV driver was pronounced dead at the scene Thursday morning.

School bus involved in deadly crash in southern New Jersey

One person was killed in a crash involving a school bus in southern New Jersey Thursday, police said. The collision occurred at 7:42 a.m. on East Commerce Street in Fairfield Township, Cumberland County, State Police said in a news release. "The bus is overturned kids were scared," one nearby resident wrote on Twitter. The bus was seen on its side following the crash. One adult passenger on the bus was also injured.

Motorist dead, 5 injured in SUV-school bus crash

The SUV driver was killed, an elderly aide on the bus was critically injured and four special needs students received minor injuries. The crash Thursday morning occurred on a two-lane highway in Fairfield Township, about 35 miles south of Philadelphia. Authorities say the injured students, all from Bridgeton, range in age from 11 to 17. The SUV driver was identified as 43-year-old Larry Waller of Bridgeton. Police say the injured bus aide, 82-year-old Vera Cole of Fairfield, was in critical but stable condition Thursday afternoon.
