Koelsch, who was traveling with a four-year-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene. The child was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital with serious injuries. Cowdrey suffered minor injuries.

According to police, Cowdrey was arrested after being taken to the hospital for driving under the influence of alcohol.

 

Police: Wrong way drunk driver causes fatal crash

It happened Wednesday night around 9 p.m. on I-89 near exit 20 in Lebanon, New Hampshire. New Hampshire State Police say Daniel Cowdrey, 38 of Hartland Vermont was traveling north in the southbound lane of the highway.

Cowdrey suffered minor injuries. He was arrested at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and was charged with felony aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol. It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.

Daniel Cowdrey, 38, of Hartland, VT, was arraigned on May 26, 2016, on aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent homicide, both felonies.

The Valley News reports 40-year-old Daniel Cowdrey, of Hartland, Vermont, pleaded guilty Wednesday to negligent homicide and aggravated driving under the influence in the May 2016 crash.
