Police investigate deadly accident in Claremont

Claremont police said one person died and another was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a collision with a van Friday night. Police said a 2008 GMC Savana was traveling north on Charlestown Road at the time of the crash. Police said Claremont Emergency Services -- along with Claremont police, Claremont firefighters and Golden Cross Ambulance -- responded to Charlestown Road around 8:45 p.m. in the area of Harmony Lane for a report of a crash involving a van and a pedestrian. The incident is still under investigation by Claremont Police, New Hampshire State Police, the Sullivan County Attorney's Office and the state Medical Examiner's Office. Police said part of Charlestown Road would remain closed for several hours during the investigation Friday night.
