A pedestrian is dead after a collision early Monday morning in Sparks, according to the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office. Authorities had responded to reports of a possible hit-and-run at Victorian Avenue and Kietzke Lane.

Victim in deadly Sparks hit-and-run identified

SPARKS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Police have confirmed that a man was found dead early Monday morning in Sparks in a hit-and-run collision. The victim was identified as a 55-year-old Sparks resident, but his name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Police said the victim appeared to be walking in the bike lane, close to the sidewalk, and was struck from behind by a vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sparks Police Department at (775) 353-2225 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900. Officers arrived to find a man in the bike lane of eastbound Victorian with major trauma to the upper body and head, according to police.
