UPDATE: Victims identified after motorcycle crash kills 1, injures another; pickup truck driver jailed
Police say the pickup driver, Joseph Madej, 34, of Omaha, is facing a felony motor vehicle homicide charge. Police believe Madej failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling west on Madison Street. Daniel was driving northbound on 41st Street.
After crashing, the motorcycle then crashed into a parked pickup truck. Both the motorcycle and the truck caught fire.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
