1 killed, 3 hospitalized in crash south of Darby

Authorities say a man was killed and three other people were hospitalized in a single-vehicle rollover crash south of Darby. The Montana Highway Patrol says the group was in a car on U.S. Highway 93 that went off the road at a curve Thursday morning. Investigators say all of the occupants were either in their late teens or 20s and were western Montana residents. The Ravalli Republic reports the driver overcorrected and the car rolled down an embankment. A man in his 20s died at the scene.

Alcohol possible factor in crash near Darby

State troopers said alcohol may have been a factor in a violent collision Saturday afternoon near Darby. Troopers said a 2004 Chevy pickup heading south crossed the center line and struck the side of a motor home heading north towards Hamilton. Troopers said they were awaiting blood work from the driver to determine if he was under the influence. The crash was reported around 2:30 p.m. on Highway 93 just north of Darby. The 34-year-old male driver of the pickup sustained a broken femur and was transported to the hospital.

Darby crash victim identified

The Ravalli County Sheriff's Office identified the victim of a fatal crash south of Darby as 24-year-old Michael Alan Newill of Missoula. Sheriff Chris Hoffman said Newill was one of four occupants involved in a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 93, south of the Conner Cutoff, near milepost 21. The accident occurred on Thursday, July 30th, shortly before 11:00 a.m. Investigators said the other 3 occupants were either in their late teens or 20's and were western Montana residents. All three were hospitalized.
