Woman killed, man hospitalized in early morning crash

A woman is dead and a man hospitalized after a morning crash. Sergeant Scott Bennett with Montana Highway Patrol says it is early in the investigation, but they suspect the man may have fallen asleep at the wheel. The man and woman are in their 50's and both from Minnesota. Bennett said there is no indication the man was speeding or that there was excessive use of alcohol. The man had to be extricated from the vehicle before he was taken by Life Flight to St.

Lynn Herda, 53, of Maple Grove may have fallen asleep in the back seat of a Ford Taurus that was driven by her husband, who was in his mid-50s, according to Montana Highway Patrol Sgt. Scott Bennett. The Ford drifted into the median, rolled and came to a rest in the eastbound lane shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday. Herda, who may have not worn a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, Bennett said.
