Malori McGhee, 24, killed and four people injured in two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 24 near Monroe City, Missouri

A woman was killed and four others hurt in a two-car crash on U.S. Highway 24 just south of Monroe City on Saturday afternoon, state troopers said. The highway was down to one lane and was expected to remain that way for several hours Saturday afternoon. A Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reconstruction team will make the final ruling on the cause, but troopers on scene said it appeared that a driver traveling north in a Nissan hit a slick spot in the road and crashed into a Jeep in the southbound lane. They said one passenger in the Nissan and three people in the Jeep were taken by ambulance to area hospitals. Troopers said the crash happened at 1:30 p.m.

McGhee's family and the Disney school community as they grieve this tragic loss. This weekend the Disney Elementary School community received sad news that one of its fourth-grade teachers, Ms. Counselors will be at Springfield's Disney Elementary on Monday to help grieving students who lost one of their teachers in an accident over the weekend. Because fourth-grade Disney students had a close relationship with Ms. It happened on Saturday around 1:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 24, which is just south of Monroe City.

The young teacher was from Clinton, Mo., and services will be held in her hometown. Just 24 years old, Malori McGhee was in her first year as a full-time teacher at Disney Elementary School. She says 10-year-old Daeton learned to love school for the first time. Homeroom mom Sozio said the young teacher found a way to reach her son. McGhee may be gone, but the impact she had on each of her students will stay with them the rest of their lives.
