Two men injured in Cass County crash, deputies say 'excessive speed' appears to be cause of crash

"Excessive speed for the road conditions appears to be a factor in this crash," deputies said.

None of the occupants inside the vehicle were wearing seatbelts, deputies said.

Sometime in the morning, a car driven by Westphal with Majewski and Kocsis as passengers slid on some slush, veered off the road, and came to rest after crashing into a tree. While Westphal was not hurt in the crash, both of his passengers were injured and taken to the hospital via ambulance. Authorities claim that Westphal was simply driving too fast for the slippery road conditions.
