Just hours before the accident, Childs had appeared in the high school's production of "Grease," playing the role of Roger. Sunday's performance was canceled in the wake of his death.

A "Grease" matinee planned for Sunday afternoon was canceled, and Middleborough High School has mobilized an emergency response team for students or family needing assistance.

After school performance, teen dies in car crash
“It’s devastating; it’s a tragedy; it’s everything you could possibly imagine,” said Roseli Weiss, Middleborough’s superintendent of schools, who had a role in the play and said she became very close to the student performers over the months of rehearsal.
A Middleboro High School senior died Sunday morning in a single-vehicle collision that also injured two passengers. Nathan L. Childs, 18, was pronounced deceased at the crash site on Wareham Street. The two passengers in the vehicle were transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham with non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
