4 injured after two-car crash in Lexington

"It was not a fire event. It was just leaking propane, which in itself is an inherent hazard," said Assistant Chief Ken Tremblay of the Lexington Fire Department.

The two bus drivers in the van were taken to the hospital but did not have serious injuries. No children were in the vehicle, as it was driving through Lexington on an errand to pick up school bus replacement parts, the superintendent said.

Four people injured in crash in Lexington; houses evacuated due to propane leak

A Lowell Street resident, Hillary Anderson-Oei, 35, said she was in her home when she heard one of the vehicles crash into the propane tank. She said it made a “significant noise.” It was unclear how exactly the crash occurred, she said.

At around 12:10pm, two vehicles struck each other and both went off of the road. The smaller vehicle crashed into a utility pole, while the larger vehicle crashed into propane tanks and then into a house. Two people from each vehicle were injured, though injuries were mostly minor. The crash into the propane tanks caused leakage and five nearby homes had to be evacuated.
