Metairie crash kills woman Tuesday morning

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, the woman's 2009 Hyundai Sonata overturned around 1:45 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office has identified the woman killed in a single-vehicle crash in Metairie Tuesday morning as Madelyn Apken, 57.

The JPSO said Apken was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident. An investigation will continue. 

57-year-old woman killed in overnight crash in Metairie

Jefferson Parish spokesman, Glen T. Boyd, said “for reasons unknown at  this time,  she  lost control crossing a lawn and hit a curb. The vehicle then went airborne striking a tree on the neutral ground and overturned.”

At around 1:45 a.m., a woman's car overturned at Bonnabel Boulevard and south Interstate-10 Service Road, causing her to suffer fatal injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
