Two DeQuincy teens dead following multi-vehicle crash on Hwy 27

Sgt. James Anderson with the Louisiana State Police Troop D said the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. when a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 18-year-old Charlee Smith was traveling north on La. 27 and tried to pass another vehicle in a curve in a no passing zone. Smith struck the side of a southbound utility trailer that was in tow before colliding head-on with a 2004 Ford F-150 driven by 17-year-old Lauren Marie Leblanc. A fourth vehicle was damaged by debris immediately following the crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up driven by 18-year-old Charlee Smith of DeQuincy was traveling north on LA 27. Smith passed another northbound vehicle in a curve in a no passing zone and struck the side of a southbound utility trailer that was being towed before striking a 2004 Ford F-150 pick-up driven by 17-year-old Lauren Marie Leblanc of DeQuincy head-on in the southbound lane of travel.
