One child dies after head-on collision in Assumption Parish

"Impairment is not suspect to be a factor in the crash," the LSP said. "Blood was taken from both drivers and the test results will be pending." LSP troopers will continue their investigation this week.

Man, 34, dies days after crash that killed girl, 10

Troopers said Friday that 34-year-old Brandon Pennison of Gray died as a result of the Monday accident.

Neveah Pierson, 10, died Sunday afternoon following a head-on collision on Louisiana Highway 1 in Assumption Parish, near Napoleonville. The accident occured around 5:00 p.m. on October 26 when Sommer Pierson, driving a Honda Civic on LA 1 south, crossed the center line into northbound traffic and collided with a Nissan Altima driven by Dale Robertson. Neveah Pierson, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene; Sommer Pierson and the other passenger in the Civic were taken to the hospital. Robertson was also injured and taken to the hospital.
