Justin Murray, 21, killed in bicycle collision with driver Keith Jones, 63, on LA 42 in Livingston Parish, Louisiana

Justin Murray was traveling westbound on LA 42, west of LA 43, on his bicycle shortly before 5 p.m. For unknown reasons, Murray traveled across the westbound lane of LA 42 into the path of Jones’ vehicle. Murray was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and sustained serious injuries.

A 21-year-old Hammond man was killed Christmas night (Friday, Dec. 25) when a pickup truck struck his bicycle in Livingston Parish, state police say. A routine toxicology sample was taken from Murray, but police say impairment is not suspected to be a factor. The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Keith Jones, 63, of Livingston, struck Murray's bicycle, police say. A breath test performed on Jones showed no signs of impairment, police say. Murray was not wearing a helmet and died at a local hospital of his injuries, police say.
