Driver flees after deadly crash on Poplar Level Rd.

The crash happened at 5 :13 a.m. just outside the Watterson Business Park near the intersections of Poplar Level Rd. at Business Park Dr.

A police spokesperson said 3 passengers were inside the car that was left mangled. All 3 were transported to the hospital where one of them died.

“Three people inside of that vehicle were taken to University Hospital. One of them, believed to be a female passenger, was pronounced dead at the hospital. We believe the driver of this vehicle fled the scene,” LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.

Smith and Lucas were passengers in a silver Kia that went off the road near Business Park Drive and hit a curb, a telephone pole and a fire hydrant.
