But now his brother is dead, just three weeks shy of his 47th birthday. And the crash that claimed Michael Gilliam's life also left a 7-month-old boy and a woman in extremely critical condition.

All three were ejected when the car rolled several times just after it sped from I-471 onto eastbound I-275.

The child was thrown out of his car seat, which was still secured in the back seat of the wreckage.

“[The infant] was in a car seat belted in. Just the weight and momentum from the car -- it just threw him from the vehicle," said Fort Thomas police Lt. Rich Whitford.

Ft. Thomas Police Lt. Rich Whitford said a car was traveling at a high rate of speed on eastbound I-275 near the Ohio border just before 3 p.m. The driver lost control of the vehicle off the roadway in the gravel and the vehicle began to flip.

The latest possible case of "drugged driving" in Northern Kentucky resulted in a single-car crash that killed one person, ejected and critically injured a 7-month-old and injured two others Monday afternoon.

The 7-month-old boy and a female passenger seated in the back of the vehicle were in critical condition after both were thrown from the car, Whitford said. The baby might have been thrown as far as 30 feet from the vehicle after it rolled, he said.

A male passenger was not ejected and is stable at UC Medical Center.

A second passenger, a female in the back seat, was also ejected and is in critical condition at UCMC.

Police said Michael Gilliam of Cincinnati was ejected and killed in the crash.

A 7-month-old boy in the back seat was also ejected and is in critical condition at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Ft. Thomas police said.  His name hasn't been released.

On Thursday, a Campbell County Grand Jury indicted the couple on second-degree criminal abuse charges. They have not yet been arrested.

The driver, Michael Gilliam, was pronounced dead at the scene.
