Name released of victim from Friday's plane crash

The Posey County Coroner's Office has released the name of the person who died after a single engine plane crash on Friday.

“I wasn’t sure it was a plane because I just ... heard the crash and saw all the sparks,” she said. “It exploded. That’s what I heard, was the explosion.”

Ringle says the Federal Aviation Administration arrived in the area around 8 a.m. to conduct their investigation for about two hours. Following their investigation, the aircraft was removed and the roads were reopened. The area was cleaned up by around 12 p.m. today.
Kathryn Day Culley was flying in her Zenith 701 amateur built airplane near Mt. Vernon when she hit a powerline. The plane caught fire and crashed, and the pilot died. An investigation about the crash is ongoing.
